Job Overview:
The Automation Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automation solutions using Honeywell's Experion PKS DCS. The role involves working closely with process engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure the efficient operation of automated systems. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, a thorough understanding of process control, and experience in pharmaceutical, chemical, or related industries.
Key Responsibilities:
1. System Design and Configuration:
- Design and configure DCS systems, including control strategies, logic development, batch design and user interface design using Honeywell Experion PKS.
- Develop and maintain DCS hardware and software configurations, including I/O assignment, controller configurations, and network architecture.
2. Project Execution and Support:
- Lead and participate in the commissioning and startup of new DCS systems, ensuring they meet design specifications and operational requirements.
- Provide technical support for existing DCS installations, troubleshooting issues, and optimizing system performance.
- Collaborate with project teams to define scope, schedule, and budget for automation projects.
3. Process Control Optimization:
- Develop and implement advanced control strategies to improve process efficiency, stability, and product quality.
- Analyze process data and control system performance to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes.
4. Documentation and Compliance:
- Prepare and maintain detailed documentation, including functional specifications, control logic diagrams, and system architecture drawings.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies, including documentation for validation and regulatory audits.
5. Training and Support:
- Provide training and support to operations and maintenance personnel on DCS operation and best practices.
6. Continuous Improvement:
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends in automation and control systems.
- Recommend and implement new technologies and methodologies to enhance system performance and reliability.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in automation engineering, with specific expertise in Honeywell Experion PKS DCS.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in DCS configuration, control strategy development, Batch Processing and HMI design. Knowledge of field instrumentation, networking, and communication protocols.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience in pharmaceutical, chemical, or related industries is preferred.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
