Job Description:

Ascendion is looking for an experienced Level Designer that can craft and implement exciting gameplay spaces that push boundaries and engage players. Responsibilities include finaling shipping levels by adjusting layouts of gameplay spaces, gameplay scripting, setting up and tuning combat encounters, and crafting unique events with Halo engine tools. This person will work with the level design team, gameplay teams, artists, programmers, and partner teams to ensure that cross discipline relationships are respected and a high quality player experience is delivered on time.

Responsibilities:

• Finalize encounters, scripting, and design of ship quality levels built on the foundation of existing levels.

• Build gameplay moments such as combat encounters, vignettes, and interactive narrative sequences.

• Author and review level design documentation.

• Play test and iterate on level content to ensure delivery at the highest quality.

• Partner with other level designers to maintain a positive productive working atmosphere.

• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with all development functions and teams to ensure a best-in-industry production process, player experience, and team environment.

• Work closely with the art and engineering team to ensure level metrics, budgets, performance targets, and visual targets are met.

• Write re-useable, readable level scripts that can be handed off and shared with any other designer

Minimum Qualifications & Skills:

• 10+ years working as a level designer with at least 1 title of shipped that showcases combat/encounter design and scripting experience on a first-person/third-person shooter title.

• Deep understanding of gameplay and level design theories and practices.

• Highly proficient in using game editing software (Unreal, Unity, Frostbite, etc.).

• Experience creating encounters and campaign events using a text based scripting language (HaloScript, C#, LUA, UnityScript, etc.).

• Excellent writing and communication skills.

• Passion and knowledge of Halo encounter and campaign design.

• Disqualifiers: Resumes without enough experience of shipt titles- never closing the shipped project.

• Best vs. Average: The ideal candidate has experience building campaign experiences with tools and scripting languages

• Purpose of the Team: The purpose of the team is working on gameplay design, UI/UX, scripting, audio.

• Key projects: This role will be support level design – supporting the game design team
