Job Description

Overview:

We are seeking a highly capable Safety Manager with a strong background in horizontal construction and field operations. This role plays a critical part in managing and enforcing safety protocols across active projects, ensuring strict compliance with OSHA regulations and risk management best practices. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, boots-on-the-ground environment and possess the confidence and diplomacy to engage with General Contractors (GCs), field crews, and leadership alike.

Ideal candidate must have proven OSHA compliance experience in Excavation, Grading, Earthwork, or similar civil projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead field safety operations across multiple active civil and infrastructure job sites (80% field-based).
  • Conduct routine site inspections, audits, and hazard assessments in alignment with OSHA standards.
  • Enforce site-specific safety plans, JSAs, and company policies in coordination with site superintendents and project managers.
  • Manage incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventative action implementation.
  • Act as a point of contact for safety-related issues with GCs, clients, and internal teams.
  • Provide regular safety training, toolbox talks, and field coaching.
  • Monitor and manage regulatory compliance, documentation, and reporting requirements.
  • Support and drive a culture of safety, professionalism, and accountability in the field.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of safety experience in heavy civil or horizontal construction environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety best practices.
  • Comfortable managing relationships with GCs and navigating dynamic field environments.
  • Proven risk management and incident response experience.
  • OSHA 500 or 510 required.
  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional) strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication, discretion, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
